The BONNEC ALTO is our state of the art power amplifier.
This visually appealing unit has been designed for ultimate performance.
Our designers wanted to produce a case that maximised heat dissipation
from the output transistors. The vertical styling of the case gives
the Alto several major advantages over conventional amplifier case
construction. It maximises heat dissipation which ensures long term
reliability over the widest range of operating conditions.
The massive heatsink also ensures a smooth stable performance
without the use of noisy fans. This efficient heatsink system allows us
to employ a circuit design that ensures maximum control
over the loudspeakers.
Our pursuit of the highest no compromise performance continues
inside the case.
The advanced audio circuit of the ALTO employs our own
unique design of solid-state bipolar Class A-B technology.
It can supply very high currents into almost any loudspeaker load.
This in turn gives superb low frequency performance.
The Alto can simultaneously handle the largest powerful signals without
distorting the smallest musical information.
This accuracy pushes the musical performance of the Alto beyond amplifiers
that cost many times the price.
Extreme care has also been taken to ensure that the power amplifier
works to its optimum over the widest range of electrical supply conditions.
To this end the Alto uses a 940 VA transformer and 12! internal power supply
regulators. Transformer based power supplies still have several
big advantages over the more modern switch mode power supplies,
their lack of high frequency oscillation avoids the distortions
to the fine signal pitches found in the important fine detail present
in music. We still feel that a properly designed "classic" supply still
provides the ultimate sound performance when used in all our products.

For remote switch on the Alto can be switched on (and off)
by a low dc voltage input fed from the TIMPANO pre amp.
The Alto is equally at home with high performance passive speakers,
multi-amplifier and active systems as well as audio-visual systems.
Driving speakers actively defines the highest level of musical
performance currently possible. With an active crossover the filtering
for the speakers is done before the power amplifier, so it becomes
possible to dedicate a power amplifier to each drive unit.
Our AURO active cards can be configured to work with a wide range of speakers.
All our active cards normally fit in our power amplifiers
but are also available as a stand alone product housed in a TIMPANO sized box.
